The lady behind the name of the cafe and the concept, Elsie Gonzaga, is a trailblazer in so many ways. Her passion for promoting history, arts and culture of Bacolod and Negros Occidental makes her one of the finest host. She has been actively involved in many community organizations and government committees in helping with programs, projects and activities.
Elsie joined the food community in 2011 as ELG Gourmet Foods starting with toasts and their bestseller, Avocado Mousse. ELG’s toasts – cinnamon, butter and garlic cheese, are definitely tasty snack treats that go very well with tea, coffee or shakes.
She also sells fresh bagels in different flavors and mousse cakes. The most popular version is avocado, although there are many delightful variants like mango, ube, dragon fruit, depending on availability.
With a long string of food varieties, Elsie opened her latest shop – Cafe ELGON. The place is a one-stop shop for delicious treats – a bakery, a coffee shop and a restaurant. One will enjoy a variety of salads, dishes and cakes. The place is very cozy for business conversations, family dining, or casual meetings. Cafe ELGON is located at the ground floor of Sun Life Building . 20th Lacson Street, in Bacolod City, a foodie spot which is now gaining popularity as it also houses Jip Bab, a Korean restaurant with all you can eat Samgyupsal, Berbeza Bistro featuring Asian dishes by Negrense Chef Don Colmenares, and Mushu, a revival of the fusion restautant opened by celebrity chef, JP Anglo.
Cafe ELGON has function room that converts from a banquet to seminars venue to even a dance area for dance lessons like Zumba or Ballroom or to a dance party, since the room features the only floating dance floor in Bacolod.
